The purpose of this study is to improve our understanding of genes that protect against opioid addiction. We also hope to find out more about how life experiences contribute to risk for addiction and other psychiatric illnesses as well as how genes and life experiences interact.
The principal investigators for this study are Elliot Nelson, MD and Arpana Agrawal, PhD. Both Dr. Nelson and Dr. Agrawal have expertise and extensive experience conducting genetic studies of substance use disorders
We invite you to participate in this research study if you have ever misused an opioid–either the use of an illicit opioid such as heroin, or the use of a prescription opioid not prescribed for you, or at greater doses, more often, longer, or than prescribed.
